Welcome to Luke and Noah Anonymous! This is a community for readers and writers of Luke and Noah fics and Jansis fics.

We are your mods Laura ([livejournal.com profile] ithilien22) and Ronnie ([livejournal.com profile] sweetiejelly).

There are two events we will host here:

  1. Anon Beta Meme: where readers can provide honest feedback to writers to help them improve. Where writers can find out what they are doing especially right and what they can work on to get better.
  2. Anon Fic Challenge: where writers can compete solely on the merit of their words. Authors will only be revealed of their own volition or if they place in the top 3 of the challenge.

Why have an Anon Beta Meme?

Writers:
Do you want to improve your writing but don't know where to start? Would you like to know specially what people liked about your fics so you can keep doing that, or what people may not like about your fic so you can change that?

Readers:
Are there fics that you think could be better and would like to share why that is with the author, but haven't because you don't want to attach your name to it? Has an author really wowed you with a new technique and you can't wait to tell them? Was there a fic that was bad just because of that one thing that an author could change to vastly improve, but you don't want to look like you're trolling?

If you fall under either of those categories, then you are why the Anon Beta Meme was created. By allowing people to anonymously comment on fics and provide honest, constructive feedback, the Anon Beta Meme is there to help authors find out what they could work on to get better and hopefully benefit both writers and readers alike.

This beta meme is based on the Glee Anon Concrit Meme.

Here are the rules (taken shamelessly from the Glee fandom and tweaked slightly):

If you want feedback...

  • Post your LJ name here, non-anon, so we know for sure that you are the one asking for feedback.
  • Those posting names anonymously will be deleted to make sure that no one is trying to start wank.
  • Link to the work(s) completed before December 31st 2010 for which you want feedback. Please state whether you want: positive feedback only or positive + concrit.
  • For works that are locked to members on communities such as [livejournal.com profile] luke_noah or [livejournal.com profile] thehayloft, please state which comm's membership is required.
  • If you feel overwhelmed, let us know so that we can either freeze your comments or remove you entirely.

If you are leaving feedback...

  • Please pick out specific things you liked about a story or give suggestions for making a story better. Do not simply say whether or not you like someone's work.
  • No bashing will be tolerated. If you feel that there is something a writer can work on, don't say, "YOUR WORK SUCKS!" Instead, offer specific suggestions for where they can improve. Your comment will be deleted if this is not followed.
  • IP tracking is turned OFF, so this is honestly anonymous.
  • On that note, please provide all feedback anonymously. Those who are posting with their usernames will be screened.

Welcome to the anonymous Nuke/Jansis fic challenge!

What is it?
It is a completely anonymous fanfic challenge to encourage all and especially new Luke/Noah and Jansis writers to come out and play.

How does it work?

  1. We give you a few prompts.
  2. You will have 3 weeks 3 weeks (for ficlet challenges) or 4 weeks (for regular-length fic challenges) to write one fic. 100 words minimum.
  3. Because of the anonymous nature of this challenge, betas are NOT allowed. However, you may seek concrit after the results are in by posting a link to your fic in the anon beta meme.
  4. When you post your story, your comment will be screened so no one except us (Laura Jen and Ronnie) would know who you are.

    • If your story does not fit within one comment, please label each comment as:
      • "[fic title] Part 1/?"
      • "[fic title] Part 2/?"
      • "[fic title] Part 3/3"

etc. so we would know if your story is complete and ready for posting.
    • If your story is multi-chapter, please also label accordingly. "[fic title] Chapter 1/? Part 1/?", etc. We will post your whole story when it is complete.
    • You may NOT post your story anywhere else until after results are tallied and posted.
    • In the same vein, you may NOT tell anyone which fic is yours before results are in. You will be disqualified if your anonymity is compromised before voting.
    • You may however, when the voting poll goes up, tell people that you participated and send them over to read the entries and vote for their favorites.
    • As we will see all the comments, author identities, and have to tally all the votes, we will not participate in the challenges.

  5. As the stories are posted, we will post them to the comm in batches of three (to minimize identity guesses and also to minimize spamming).

    • Each story will be identified only by a number and a title.
    • Readers can and are encouraged to leave comments on these entries.
    • Readers' comments will remain screened until after voting is complete. This is to prevent any fandom opinions from influencing the vote. It is also to allow authors who have entered the challenge to comment on the other entries without giving their identity away (by not commenting on their own entry).
    • Comments on your fic are forwarded or sent in a PM to you during the time frame when comments are screened.

  6. Readers will vote for their 1st, 2nd and 3rd favorites.

    • Readers will have the option to vote for their 4th and 5th favorites.
    • Writers cannot vote for themselves.

  7. We unveil all comments and post the results: #, title, score. The author column stays blank (except for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners) until you decide to unveil yourself. Which could be never, if you so choose.

How does scoring work?
Each 1st place vote gets 10 points.
Each 2nd place vote gets 5 points.
Each 3rd place vote gets 3 points.
Each 4th place vote gets 2 points.
Each 5th place vote gets 1 point.

Any other questions, please ask us in the comments.
