Why have an Anon Beta Meme?
Writers:Do you want to improve your writing but don't know where to start? Would you like to know specially what people liked about your fics so you can keep doing that, or what people may not like about your fic so you can change that?
Readers:Are there fics that you think could be better and would like to share why that is with the author, but haven't because you don't want to attach your name to it? Has an author really wowed you with a new technique and you can't wait to tell them? Was there a fic that was bad just because of that one thing that an author could change to vastly improve, but you don't want to look like you're trolling?
If you fall under either of those categories, then you are why the Anon Beta Meme was created. By allowing people to anonymously comment on fics and provide honest, constructive feedback, the Anon Beta Meme is there to help authors find out what they could work on to get better and hopefully benefit both writers and readers alike.
This beta meme is based on the
Glee Anon Concrit Meme.
Here are the rules (taken shamelessly from the Glee fandom and tweaked slightly):
If you want feedback...
- Post your LJ name here, non-anon, so we know for sure that you are the one asking for feedback.
- Those posting names anonymously will be deleted to make sure that no one is trying to start wank.
- Link to the work(s) completed before December 31st 2010 for which you want feedback. Please state whether you want: positive feedback only or positive + concrit.
- For works that are locked to members on communities such as
luke_noah or
thehayloft, please state which comm's membership is required.
- If you feel overwhelmed, let us know so that we can either freeze your comments or remove you entirely.
If you are leaving feedback...
- Please pick out specific things you liked about a story or give suggestions for making a story better. Do not simply say whether or not you like someone's work.
- No bashing will be tolerated. If you feel that there is something a writer can work on, don't say, "YOUR WORK SUCKS!" Instead, offer specific suggestions for where they can improve. Your comment will be deleted if this is not followed.
- IP tracking is turned OFF, so this is honestly anonymous.
- On that note, please provide all feedback anonymously. Those who are posting with their usernames will be screened.
